It’s always exciting when you start something new.
Whether it’s a new project, or a new way of eating … or fasting.
But once the novelty wears off, it’s hard to keep the momentum going.
Especially when the challenges appear.
Let’s talk about ways that you can stay motivated when you feel like giving up.
Go into it with a strong “why”
We’ve talked about your “why” before, and this is the reason it matters.
A strong “why” is a good, solid foundation.
If your motivation to fast springs from a strong and meaningful “why”, it’s not going to dwindle away when the going gets tough.
Take it one day at a time
Sometimes thinking too far ahead can zap your motivation.
Instead of thinking about how far you have to go to reach your goal, focus on the next 24 hours in front of you.
Or the next hour, if need be.
Circle back
Think about how you felt when you first found out about fasting for weight loss, or when you first got excited about Keto or Low Carb.
What was it exactly that stirred you up? What excited you the most?
Thinking about those things again can reignite that passion that you first felt.
Look at success stories
When you’re just not feeling it, reading success stories can inspire you.
It’s so motivational to see the results other people have achieved.
You can look in social media groups for before and after photos and stories.
Check out our Official Fasting for Weight Loss Group on FB for lots of amazing success stories!
Also look at Youtube, you can find some good ones there, too.
One note, though – don’t compare yourself to others! Be inspired by them, but don’t compare.
Every journey is different.
Acknowledge your wins
Make a list of what you’ve accomplished so far.
Have you lost any weight, or inches? Are your clothes fitting better? Do you feel better?
Did you complete a fast? Did you push through a craving?
Did you eat Keto or Low Carb?
Did you make it an hour longer than you thought you could?
All those things are wins, and focusing on them will help you stay motivated.
Think about how you felt the last time you quit
It didn’t feel very good, did it?
You probably felt like you had failed. You most likely beat yourself up for it.
Is that how you want to feel again? No?
Let that be the motivation you need to keep going!
Listen to your favorite Fasting or Keto teachers
Your favorite mentor talking about the benefits of fasting or the Keto lifestyle can be just the ticket you need to bring that motivation back.

Give yourself a pep talk every day
You have to be your own best cheerleader.
Even if you hire a fasting coach, or you have an accountability partner. You still have to be your number one fan.
Show up for yourself!
Start everyday with some positive affirmations.
Tell yourself that you can do this. Remind yourself that you are worth it.
Even 10 minutes of positive self-talk a day can make a huge difference.
Use an app
Some people find fasting apps very helpful.
Taking a look at the timer and seeing how far you’ve come can give you that push to hang in there.
There are many fasting apps available, try a few till you find one you like.
Don’t give yourself any other option
If all else fails and you still just can’t muster up the motivation to continue, do it anyway.
The only way out is through. Make that your motto.
Imagine you’re on a journey and there are no exits, there’s only the destination.
Make a firm decision that there is no option except to reach your goal.
Keep going!
